BRAZILIAN OUTBACK RIDING

Tours from $180 / day

AN EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEVER FORGET

The Pegasus horse farm is located in a beautiful mountain known as Serra das Cabras, with 600m to 1000m altitude, this permanent Environmental Protection area is blessed with a beautiful blue sky and tropical temperature. This little piece of paradise can be reached in 50 minutes by car from the international airport of Viracopos, Campinas São Paulo / less then 2 hours from Guarulhos International Airport in Sao Paulo.

Beautiful countryside

Over there, as an environmental protection area, most of the roads to the neighbor cities are not paved, which is much better for horseback riding. We breed very comfortable gated horses, from the Brazilian breeds Campolina and Mangalarga, but we also have Arabians for those who like trotting. Riding there sometimes you will enjoy the sight of wild animals like maned wolf, foxes, several birds like Seriema, Tucano, Quero quero, wild mallard and other species that are typical in Brazil. Joaquim Egidio also reserves good adventures and contact with nature. The 222 km² Environmental Protection Area, comprising 60% of native vegetation and Atlantic Forest fragments, offers trails, a 26 km long cycling circuit and even a nursery that produces 102 native species for restoration of degraded areas.

CHARMING SMALL TOWN

In one of the largest cities in the interior of São Paulo, there is a place that seems to have stopped in time. District of Campinas, Joaquim Egídio still maintains a typical rural climate, with its cobblestone streets, low-rise buildings from past centuries and a life that passes more slowly. Only 100 km separate the capital and the picturesque region that took shape in coffee growing until the mid-1920s. The district's name pays homage to one of the great coffee barons, who was the Marquess of Três Rios. Today, it still has small plantations on just two farms. Among its attractions is the old railway, deactivated since the 60s, but with its charm maintained on the basis of a reconstruction carried out in the 2000s from its ruins. In addition to observing the historic buildings of colonial architecture that permeate the place, visitors have good gastronomic options in the surroundings.

PEACEFUL PARADISE

Pegasus Stables: health and fun in one space the space offers riding lessons, horseback riding and hippotherapy treatment. Son of a farmer and in love with horses, the physiatrist specialist in Riding Therapy Luiz Antônio de Arruda Botelho, decided to open the doors of his stud to all those who are also enchanted by the animal and are looking for greater contact with nature. Being a private paradise of the Botelho family for over ten years, the Pegasus Haras has been acting as a refuge in the middle of the big city for a year, located at km 12.5 of the Cabras road (Dr José Bonifácio Coutinho Nogueira road) in Joaquim Egidio. Amidst a stunning landscape surrounded by greenery, hills and lakes, the visitor will have the opportunity to meet the more than 30 horses that make up the space, go on trails and horseback riding, take riding lessons and learn more about Hippotherapy, a therapeutic method that uses the horse to improve, for example, the balance, self-esteem, self-confidence, spinal flexibility, musculoskeletal pain (fibromyalgia, low back pain), depression and social reintegration of the autistic person. Therapeutic riding is also very effective in improving attention, concentration, learning and school performance for the hyperactive children so often seen today. All patients are initially evaluated by a Physiatrist, who will determine the type of therapeutic riding indicated for each case. Consultations can be made with Dr. Luiz Botelho at Haras do Pegasus with prior appointment For those who want to get away from traditional gyms, but stay healthy by playing sports, horseback riding is a great option, as it works all the muscles in the body, improves balance and posture. “It's a complete work of the whole body and mind. Ensure horses with a genetic lineage and morphology suitable for each activity: Riding Therapy, Horseback Riding or Equestrian Sports. For this we have been breeding and selecting horses for 20 years, aiming for a docile nature, conformation and exotic coat. For Western riding (horse riding) we like the Mangolinos (Mangalarga Mineiro x Campolina, a very comfortable gait) which is great for therapy and also for the trails.

Our Place

We have a mountain chalet, which comfortably hosts ten people, with beautiful views of the riding trail, the lake, and pastures with horses. You can also stay in comfortable suites in the big farmhouse, with wooden floors and balcony doors to a large terrace, with a beautiful view of the valley. You often wake up in the morning with the sound of the singing of seriemas. You see several colorful birds like the toucan, the hummingbirds, the swallows, the jacús, and other wild animals. Have a delicious international coffee with tasty Brazilian fruits on the terrace with a beautiful view of the valley and go out riding.

Our stay was amazing. Just perfect. Already planning our next trip back!
